Are service animals allowed in the library?
Answer
Yes, service animals as described in ADA guidelines and Northwestern’s Service, Assistance, and Other Animals at Northwestern policy welcome in the library. They must remain under control at all times and should be harnessed, leashed, or tethered unless these interfere with their work.
Service Animals are defined as dogs that are individually trained to do work or perform tasks for people with disabilities. Emotional support, therapy, comfort, and companion animals are not considered service animals under the ADA. Additional guidance regarding service animals can be found on the NU Service Animal policies page.
