What resources are available for historical research?
Answer
The library’s rare book collections consist of medical and dental works from European and American sources, spanning the 15th through the 20th centuries, with strengths in anatomy, pathology, fevers, obstetrics and gynecology, urology, and dentistry, among others. Galter Library holds institutional records for Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, as well as records of the past dental school, woman’s medical school, and pharmacy school, and personal archives of alumni/ae and faculty.
Our finding aids are available in the Archives and Manuscript Collections search portal, though we have many collections awaiting processing that are not listed in the portal. Please email ghsl-specialcollections@northwestern.edu to inquire about unprocessed collections.
