My publisher will not accept a manuscript with an Endnote formatted bibliography. Can I still use Endnote?

Answer

Yes, you can.

  1. Create and format your bibliography as you would normally.
  2. From the EndNote Toolbar in Word  for Mac, click on Tools > Convert to Plain Text; for PC, click on Convert Citations and Bibliography > Convert to Plain Text
  3. When prompted to save the document, save it under a different name.

The new document retains the in-text citations and bibliography as text. There will be no links between this document and the EndNote library you used to create the bibliography in your original manuscript.

We strongly recommend keeping the original file, should you need to make future edits that will affect the citations/bibliography.
