What does “You have been granted access as a guest user” mean?

For Northwestern staff, students, and faculty, the “guest user” message often means your NU Wildcard has expired. Please check your physical Wildcard to see if the expiration date has passed. If that date has indeed passed, then please contact the Wildcard office to find out about getting an updated card.

If your card is not expired or you recently received a new Wildcard and are having this issue, please contact us for additional help as we may need to raise the issue to another department.
If you have urgent research needs, you may contact the library for a temporary override of your Wildcard’s expiration in our system. This will allow you to log in and access full text links again for a short period of time.
